The academic year typically runs from early October to late June.
There are two main semesters:

Holidays & Breaks

- Undergraduate admission for Greek and EU students is primarily through the Panhellenic national examinations.

You can apply to the University of Thessaly (G VOLOS01) as an exchange student for a 3-12 month period of studies either for the Winter Semester (WS) or/and for the Spring Semester (SS).
To be regarded as an exchange student it is necessary:
- for a Bilateral Agreement between your Home University and the University of Thessaly to already be in effect. Α mobility is not possible if there is not a previously signed Erasmus+ Bilateral Agreement between both Universities in the specific subject area.
- your Home Erasmus Coordinator nominates you for the studies period in the University of Thessaly,
citing the following:
- Student's Name and Surname
- Student's e-mail
- Student's Date of birth
- Male/Female
- Period of Stay ( WS/SS/Full Year)

No later than one month after the completion of your mobility, you must send us by email the documents below - please note that if you do not submit the original documents, you should send us the relevant email from your University/Company:
- STUDIES
- Transcript of Records, with clarifications for its equivalence to the Greek scoring system. The students' responsibility is to provide the Academic Coordinator of their Department with a copy of their transcript in order to recognize your courses.
- Certificate of Attendance (stating the exact dates of your study period at the Host University). If your Transcript of Records already includes these exact dates, this certificate is not necessary.
- Submission of the on-line European Report. You will receive it on the last day of your mobility at the e-mail address stated in your Grant Agreement (email from: EU-CORPORATE-NOTIFICATION-SYSTEM@ec.europa.eu - always check your spam files).
- Attention: Your grant is calculated based on your arrival and departure dates at the Host University. Copy of your tickets and boarding passes (departure from the Host University).
