Learning Outcomes
OB1: Apply mass transfer principles and governing equations, together with material balances, to absorption/desorption and solid–liquid extraction operations.
OB2: Analyse and solve diffusion and convection problems involving mass transfer.
OB3: Analyse mass transfer between phases using transfer coefficient concepts.
OB4: Apply equilibrium relationships and operating lines to determine composition profiles in separation equipment.
OB5: Design solid–liquid absorption and extraction equipment for batch and continuous steady-state operations.
OB6: Select appropriate methods to predict performance and evaluate the effect of operating conditions on separation processes.
