Learning Outcomes

After the frequency with approval of this course, the student should be able to identify the structure and behavior of ferrous and non ferrous metals. In the topic of the heat treatments should identify the main types, recognizing and describing their effects on the properties of materials in order to enhance their applications. The student should also be familiar with the nomenclature of the major international codes, using databases and apply knowledge in order to carefully select mettalic materials for usual engineering applications.

The specific objectives are to allow the acquisition of knowledge that supports the ability to select materials for engineering applications.
