(CP1) The individual work and the project to be developed address one of the following thematic areas: simple lifting systems, simple mechanisms, simple mechanical transport systems, simple fluid distribution facilities (water and fuel gas); simple mechanical ventilation systems; small installations of thermal solar collectors for DHW; Simple installations for pneumatic transport (compressed air), the latter giving rise to a Project Report.
The Project Report should include a brief introduction to the Development Methodology of the solution found / proposed (CP2), the Dimensioning of the solution (CP3), the Technical Specifications of the equipment and materials necessary for its construction (CP4) and a set of Drawings that adequately characterize the proposed solution (CP5). The Project will be presented and defended orally (CP6) before a jury composed of 2 teachers and other students who attend the course.
Learning Outcomes
The purpose of the course is to promote the deepening and synthesis of the knowledge domains that characterize the degree through the accomplishment of a work of practical application of knowledge - Project, promoting the initialization to the competence to design.
The objectives of the curricular unit are:
OB1: mobilize previously acquired knowledge to solve real engineering problems;
OB2: research, analyze and evaluate existing solutions for mechanical systems or thermal systems;
OB3: select and apply techniques and methods in solving real engineering problems, assessing their limitations;
OB4: critically evaluate the solutions from a technical, ethical and social point of view;
OB5: improve and/or adapt existing solutions according to previous requirements, adopting design (Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing), calculation methodologies, research and teamwork;
OB6: communicate orally and in writing, arguing and defending their solutions.
