The University of Orléans is characterized by its multidisciplinary nature.
More than 18,000 students, including more than 2,000 foreign students, attend one of the University's sites in the Centre Val de Loire region.
Its international vocation is confirmed with 14% of students of foreign nationality and nearly 90 countries represented. The UO was recognized as a European University through the ATHENA network and awarded the "Human Resources Excellence in Research" HRS4R label.
The University's capacity for innovation is reflected in the dynamism of its research and technology transfers to regional, national and international companies.
The Orléans Campus benefits from an ecosystem of scientific excellence with 25 research units.
Its training offer, rich in professional courses, is developed in close connection with research. The facilities for welcoming and helping students and adults to enter the job market help to make the University of Orléans a major player in regional development.

Languages
Prior to any enrolment, if you are not a French speaker, you must take a French language proficiency test.
Your application must be accompanied by a certificate confirming a minimum level of B2.

Admission description for full-degree students
Important
Before any registration, if you are not a French speaker, you must take a French language proficiency test.
Your application file must include a certificate attesting to a minimum B2 level in French.
You want to enroll in a Degree Seeking Programme? Please note that the eligibility criteria depend on your nationality, your country of residence and the programme you choose.
Please note that the University of Orléans does not issue any certificate of late arrival.
Registration procedures for full-degree students
Before any administrative registration:
Every student enrolling for the first time in a higher education institution must obtain their attestation of payment of the Student and Campus Life Contribution (CVEC)—either by paying it or by being exempted (for scholarship students)—before registering at their institution.
To obtain your certificate:
- Log in or create an account on the dedicated website
- Indicate your study city
- Pay your CVEC
- Obtain the certificate number, which must be provided during your registration
For students admitted to the Orléans-La Source campus:
You will have to go to the Guichet Unique (One‑Stop Desk) upon your arrival to be registered.
To prepare your registration, once you have obtained your visa:
- Create an account on the MoveOn website (available in French or English)
- Download the first‑time registration file (available from July 4)
- Complete it and attach all required supporting documents (listed in the file), then submit your form
- The Guichet Unique will check that your file is complete and will finalize your registration once you have arrived in France
Once your registration is completed, you must activate your ENT (digital workspace) to access all useful information regarding the organization of your studies.
Admission description for exchange students
Whether you come to the UO within the Erasmus+ programme, as an exchange student outside Europe, in a Dual Degree or a specific programme you have to go through different steps:
1st step:
Check that your university has a partnership with the University of Orléans.
2nd step:
Get in touch with the International Office of your university, they will help you out with your mobility and will validate your enrollment within the exchange programme.
Please note that most of the time there is a selection process, that is why it is a good idea to start the procedure almost a year in advance. Check the "International student welcome guide" for information on life in Orléans.
3rd step:
Check our welcome guide for the necessary procedures before leaving your home university.
4th step:
Every year, the whole International Relations team is on deck to welcome international exchange students.
From the moment you get here until you leave, we are here to make sure your stay in Orléans is as successful as possible.
Registration procedures for exchange students

Online application portal, the portal is available again, you can apply for 2024/25 or 2025/26.
The online Application form has been optimized to work with Google Chrome or Firefox. We cannot guarantee that it will function correctly with other browsers (do not use Internet Explorer, Edge or any Microsoft browser). You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or any pdf reader to print the Application form. Adobe Acrobat Reader should be installed before beginning the Application process. Download Acrobat Reader. For the Application process, your browser must enable cookies and JavaScript. For security reasons, your log-in session will automatically be timed-out if you have not entered data during a long period.
Be aware that it is mandatory to acces the online forms via the portal.

B2 French level.
B2 English level for courses raught in English.

The university of Orléans does not accept free-movers.

30 ECTS per semester.
Licence (Bachelor) = 180 ECTS
Master = 120 ECTS
Campuses
The UO is structured around several campuses that contribute to its regional presence and academic diversity. The main campus hosts the majority of faculties, research laboratories, and central university services, providing a dynamic academic environment for students and staff. The Indre campus offers specialized programmes closely connected to the economic and technological development of the region. Meanwhile, the Bourges campus focuses particularly on engineering, risk management, and environmental studies, benefiting from strong links with local industries and research centres.

The UO consists in 3 Colleges (also called Training and Research Units), 1 Engineering School (Polytech), 4 University Institutes of Technology, 1 National Institute of Higher Education (INSPÉ), 1 University Science of the Universe Observatory (OSUC), 1 University School of Physiotherapy (EUK) and a medical training department.
