Contents

In the course the students (both in teams of 3 to 4 members and individually) will perform experimental works that involve: (i) instrumental methods of analysis, namely spectrometric methods (UV/Vis, infrared, fluorescence, atomic absorption and turbidimetry), separation methods (gas- and liquid chromatography) and electroanalytical methods (potentiometry and conductometry), and (ii) fluid mechanics, physical-chemistry and thermodynamics.

These works will be performed, either based on protocols provided by the professors or on protocols that have to be developed by the students in a (semi-)autonomous manner.

Besides the laboratory classes, the necessary concepts for the correct execution of the works will be explained. The students will also have to orally present the results obtained in some of the works.

Learning Outcomes

(O1) - Confirm or develop theoretical concepts and knowledge that are common to chemical engineering through data collection or confirmation after experimental activities.
(O2) - Develop skills to use analytical and technological equipment.
(O3) - Organize data collection and interpret the obtained results.
(O4) - Develop technical and intellectual skills to establish analytical procedures.
(O5) - Orally present laboratory works.
