Contents

During the semester, the student does a chemical engineering design work, preferably working in a team, or develops individually an internship in an industrial company or other organization.
The subject of each internship work is analysed and validated in advance, so that it may fulfill the aims of the Course and student formation.
The student who choose to make a design work may propose a subject or is given a subject to develop, in Chemical Engineering areas. The different steps of the work development include: scheduling of tasks, market research (if applicable), choice of location, selection of processes and equipment, mass and energy balances, sizing of equipment, consumptions' estimation (raw materials, utilities,...), estimating consumption of raw materials and utilities, full specification of equipment or products; contacting suitable suppliers in order to obtain costs for equipment, raw materials, products, services and/or utilities; simple economic analysis.

Learning Outcomes

OB1: Work effectively in a team environment, demonstrating collaboration and communication skills.

OB2: Apply acquired and new knowledge to develop engineering projects, including process selection, installation design, cost estimation, and economic analysis.

OB3: Apply professional and technical skills in a real work environment and adapt to organizational requirements.

OB4: Plan and manage work activities, defining objectives and meeting established deadlines.

OB5: Demonstrate autonomy, critical thinking, initiative, and problem-solving skills.

OB6: Prepare technical reports with appropriate structure, synthesis, accuracy, and depth.

OB7: Present and discuss technical work clearly and effectively in an oral presentation.
