Learning Outcomes
This subject intends to endow pupils with Basic knowledge on Quarrying and Transformation of Dimension Stones. At the end students should be able to:
O1. Know the quarrying methods used for ornamental rocks
O2. Know the equipments used on quarrying.
O3. Identify the several phases of the processing or improvement of natural stones and the equipments used in those phases of the production.
O4. Identify and estimate the costs involved in the processing process.
O5. Select the materials in function of the type of application in engeneering works, based on the physic and mechanical characterization.
O6. Know the systems for attach rock elements.
O7. Given a case type (physical characterization and mechanics of a material),the student must be able to prepare a report regarding the quality of the rock, taking into account its suitability as an ornamental rock.
