System Logistics
Presentation
The System Logistics programme is offered by the Faculty of Logistics (FL UM) at the University of Maribor, located in Celje. FL UM is the leading educational and research institution in logistics in Slovenia, combining technical, economic, and organisational knowledge to prepare students for complex logistics systems management. The programme provides a systems perspective on logistics, integrating supply chain design, process optimisation, ICT, and sustainability.
Main Objective
The main objective of the System Logistics programme is to equip students with the competences needed to design, manage, optimise, and analyse complex logistics systems and supply chains. Students gain skills in process modelling, logistics technologies, transport systems, warehousing, and ICT-based decision support, preparing them for senior roles in logistics and supply chain management.
Competencies
- Design and optimise logistics systems and supply chains
- Apply ICT tools and information systems in logistics management
- Manage transport, warehousing, and distribution operations
- Integrate sustainability and green logistics principles into operations
- Analyse logistics performance and implement improvement strategies
- Manage projects and lead multidisciplinary logistics teams
Learning Outcomes
Graduates will be able to independently design and optimise logistics systems, manage supply chains, apply advanced ICT tools in logistics decision-making, and lead logistics operations in national and international environments. They will possess both technical expertise and managerial competences required by modern logistics organisations.
Qualification
Graduates receive the academic title Bachelor/Master in System Logistics, depending on the study cycle. FL UM offers programmes at all Bologna levels: professional (VS), university (UN), master's (MAG), and doctoral (DR) in logistics-related fields.
Structure and Distribution of Credits
The 1st-cycle programme lasts 3 years (180 ECTS). The 2nd-cycle master's programme lasts 2 years (120 ECTS). Courses cover logistics system modelling, supply chain management, transport systems, warehousing technologies, logistics ICT, production logistics, reverse logistics, and sustainability. A final thesis completes the programme.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Credits earned abroad through Erasmus+ or other mobility programmes are recognised on the basis of a Learning Agreement following ECTS guidelines and the Lisbon Recognition Convention. The faculty study commission processes recognition requests within 4 weeks of receiving the official transcript.
Qualification Requirements
Students must complete all prescribed study obligations and successfully defend a final thesis. Practical and project-based components are integral parts of the programme, emphasising the connection between theory and industry practice.
Assessment
Grading Scheme
The University of Maribor uses a 10-point grading scale (6–10 pass, ≤5 fail). ECTS grades (A–F) are used for international comparability. The minimum passing grade is 6.
Grading Distribution Table
| UM Grade | ECTS | Definition |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | A | Excellent |
| 9 | B | Very Good |
| 8 | C | Good |
| 7 | D | Satisfactory |
| 6 | E | Sufficient |
| ≤5 | F/FX | Fail |
Mobility
FL UM encourages students to participate in Erasmus+ exchange programmes. The faculty has active partnerships with logistics and business faculties across Europe. Credits are fully recognised on the basis of a Learning Agreement.
