Presentation

The Master's in International Economics and Sustainable Development at the Université d'Orléans offers a two-year M1-M2 program of excellence, taught exclusively in English. This is a unique Master's degree in the region, offering a full range of skills in international economics and sustainable development, combined with a mastery of applied econometrics.

In the International Economics Master's program, a single pathway is planned in Master 1 (S1 and S2) and in the first semester (S3) of Master 2.

The 2nd semester (S4) of Master 2 distinguishes two possible options from January onwards: Professional or Academic Research. In M1 and the first semester of M2, three blocks of courses are offered:

  • basic courses;
  • professional courses offered by professional lecturers;
  • courses in econometrics and statistics applied to international economics.

Main Objective

A strong international dimension characterizes this program. This is reflected in the presence of foreign students, partnerships with international organizations (including the OECD, IMF and World Bank) and foreign universities (including the Universities of Bucharest, Texas, Göttingen, Kiel and Namur), and a strong international presence on the program's steering committee (with representatives from the Universities of Rome La Sapienza and Henan, and the College of Europe). Students in this Master's program also have the opportunity to spend a semester in a foreign university that has signed an Erasmus + agreement with the Université d'Orléans (more than 60 destinations are possible) or a specific partnership (e.g. University of Coimbra, Institut de Hautes Etudes de Tunis).

The Master International Economics has been awarded the "GPEX" (Graduate Program of Excellence) label as part of the MINERVE (France 2030) project. As such, selected students in the Master's class could benefit from funding in M1 and M2 (e.g., excellence scholarship, subsidized internship). More information in the Minerve brochure below.

More information on the training course is available on the dedicated website

Competencies

Mobilize the most recent and operational statistical and econometric tools to analyze topics relating to the international economy and sustainable development.

- Know the literature on the problems associated with globalization (real and financial spheres) and the effectiveness of related economic policies.

- Communicating and advising: presenting position papers and statistical studies in English; advising management on the best options/policies to pursue.

The comprehensive nature of the course, combining theory and application, helps students to meet the expectations of employers who are looking for analysts with a mastery of international economic and sustainable development issues, and capable of carrying out high-level applied studies as soon as they graduate. The curriculum, offered entirely in English, meets the needs of national and international companies, institutions, consultancies and research centers.
