Presentation

The Informatics and Telecommunications Department is part of the School of Applied Sciences of the University of Thessaly. It is based in Lamia and was founded in 2013 as Computer Science Department. In 2019 it was renamed to the current name. 

 

Main Objective

It covers subjects that span computer science and telecommunications and more specifically the areas of System Security, Big Data, Information Technology in Education, Personal Communications as well as Wireless, Optical and Wired Networks and their applications.

Competencies

The graduates of the Informatics and Telecommunications Department have a broad background in basic science, programming and hardware that permits them to successfully tackle all aspects of a rapidly evolving field.

Qualification

Furthermore, graduates can obtain pedagogical and didactic competence, through a set of courses approved by the Institute of Educational Policy, which permits them to teach informatics in primary and secondary education.
