Public Health is the science – and art – of disease prevention, increase of life expectancy and health promotion through coordinated community interventions. One Health is the integrated, interdisciplinary approach to the management of human and animal health, at the local, regional, national, and global level, including our common environment and food safety.
The Department of Public and One Health (POH) has the mission to provide an outstanding program of research and teaching on the assessment of current health needs, the promotion of Evidence-Based interventions for community health and the evaluation of the effectiveness of these interventions. The integrated One Health approach to human, animal and environmental health is innovative, ranking POH at the international forefront of interdisciplinary scientific collaboration in Public Health.
Graduates of POH will have career opportunities in (i) Public Health Services and Veterinary Services at the reginal, national, and international level, (ii) NGOs active in community health (e.g., the care of vulnerable groups), (iii) International and Transnational Health Organizations (e.g. ECDC, WHO, OIE, EFSA) and (iv) in research and education in the Schools of Health Sciences and Institutes of Public Health.
