Presentation
The Master’s Degree in Advanced Biotechnology provides students with advanced, specialised, and multidisciplinary training in biotechnology. It is designed with a dual focus:
- Professional training: To prepare graduates for technical and managerial roles in the biotechnology industry, by equipping them with up‑to‑date knowledge and practical skills relevant to biotechnology enterprises.
- Academic and research training: To prepare students for research careers, especially in public and private research centres, and to serve as a solid foundation for doctoral studies.
The curriculum emphasises cutting‑edge biotechnological techniques and technologies, from molecular and cellular methods to applied biotechnology in industry, environment, health, and sustainability. It blends theoretical knowledge with practical experience, including external internships and a final master’s project.
Key features of the programme include:
- Advanced biotechnology core modules covering methodologies, processes, and cutting‑edge tools.
- Specialisation options such as Food and Agricultural Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, and Health Biotechnology.
- Hands‑on external internships in companies or research laboratories to gain real‑world experience.
- A Final Master’s Project connected to either professional practice or research.
Main Objective
The main objective is to provide these professionals with advanced, specialised, and multidisciplinary training in Biotechnology, equipping them with the necessary tools to initiate themselves in research and professional tasks.
Specific Objectives of the Degree
The specific objectives of the programme are to prepare graduates to work as:
- Specialist professionals with a solid conceptual and methodological foundation in Biotechnology, particularly in the production systems, management, and quality control of food and agricultural industries.
- Specialist professionals in the applications of Biotechnology for sustainable production systems, environmental bioremediation, and their prevention and management (including environmental audits).
- Specialist professionals in molecular diagnosis and therapy of diseases, as well as in the production and management systems of biomedical industries.
- Professionals with a critical scientific mindset, capable of experimental design, scientific communication, teamwork, and possessing the competencies necessary to integrate into research centres and companies in the biotechnology sector.
