Faculty of Energy Technology – Krško Campus
The Faculty of Energy Technology (FE UM) is part of the University of Maribor and is one of its youngest members, established by Decision of the National Assembly on 22 June 2007. The faculty began pedagogical activities in the academic year 2008/09.
FE UM operates at two locations: its headquarters in Krško (near the Krško Nuclear Power Plant) and a permanent dislocated unit in Velenje (a major coal and hydropower energy centre). This strategic positioning gives students unique direct access to Slovenia's largest energy systems and leading energy companies.
The faculty offers study programmes at all Bologna levels: professional and academic undergraduate programmes (1st cycle), a master's programme (2nd cycle), and a doctoral programme (3rd cycle) — all in the field of Energy Technology. Students can specialise in Hydropower, Thermal Energy, Nuclear Energy, Alternative Energy, and Universal Energy. Programmes are tailored to the needs of industry and all courses align with the Bologna Declaration, allowing a high degree of electives.
Scientific research activities are carried out within the Institute of Energy Engineering, with a focus on designing and managing large-scale systems for alternative and renewable energy sources. Graduates possess knowledge in ecology, environmental protection, and sustainable energy development.
