Description
Students gain theoretical and practical knowledge about planning apartment buildings. They will be able to fulfil aesthetic, technical and functional conditions as well as use graphic and written/spoken language for presentation of a project to a non-professional public.

- Introduction to apartment building typology
- General overview and typology of residential buildings
- Apartment buildings across the world and in Slovenia
- Single-apartment buildings across the world and in Slovenia
- Apartment building regulations; Architectural awards – Piranesi
- Examples from Vienna, Belgrade and Berlin; Sustainable building in Vorarlberg
- Vernacular architecture, residential buildings and art, experimental architecture

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding:
- Identify and understand the process and methodology of multi-apartment housing planning
- Approach the problem by research and consideration of rational planning methods
- Understand and analyse differences between different typologies of multi-apartment construction
- Summarise essences of various professional and scientific contents in the concept under consideration
Transferable/key skills:
- Prepare starting points for design of a multi-apartment building
- Assess a given location and critically evaluate building possibilities
- Prepare an independent architectural plan solution of a multi-apartment building
- Present the project as architectural drawings, description and model before an audience

Assessment weights:
- Seminar paper: 60%
- Oral examination: 30%
- Written examination or colloquium: 10%
